Plants have the power to heal. As a provider to us,
Mother Nature gives us herbs and flowers at our very fingertips. Still, we don't pay them the respect that they deserve. We pluck out one of the most valuable healing herbs for liver conditions -- dandelion. Sure, some plants, we feel, are antagonistic to us, so we do everything in our power to eliminate them. Certainly, the aesthetic value of our lawns is important. However, we are
mowing away cures.
My mother and I just received a box of healing herbs via post. In one of our favorite assortments,
dandelion herb is one of the prime ingredients. It's fun to consult one of my herb directories and read the evidence of how each herb benefits my body. I have the double pleasure of enjoying sipping my infusion along with drinking in the knowledge of the healing properties of each herb. For July, I hardly want to drink anything else, because I regularly experience the great feeling in my body that herbs give to me...so I'm likely to pass on coffee and soda.
It was only after a vast amount of studying on the historical and present uses for each herb and learning how each herb affects my body and mind that I really began to get into tea. Sure, anyone can herb out, but it is much more fun to do it with a bit of knowledge, instead of just drinking any old tea in a box.
For instance, if you know a little about
ginseng, you would probably choose to drink a ginseng infusion right before a test or before exerting yourself physically or mentally. If you know a little about
chamomile, you will desire to drink a chamomile infusion just before bed or when you need your nerves to relax.
There's hardly ever a bad time for me to drink green tea (since it is my coffee replacement), but drinking green tea in the late afternoon or evening may not be a wise idea if you have trouble falling asleep. A good way to up your Vitamin C intake is to drink
hibiscus or lemon tea. No matter what frame of mind you are in and no matter what your energy level is, there is a tea (or teas), just right for you.
